10. Yipping Short Putts

Yipping (or missing) short putts is common with both professional and amateur golfers. Want to have some fun making more of your short putts more often? Then try this formula:

Think Target: The Short Putt Formula.

While on the practice putting green set up 3 feet away from the hole.
hole
  1. While you are looking at the hole, putt.

  2. From the same distance memorize what the hole looks like and close your eyes. Now try to imagine what the hole looks like and stroke the putt.

  3. From the same distance again, memorize the look of the hole, look back at the ball, and while looking at the ball imagine the hole. Engulf your mind with that hole while you putt.
This is the essence of putting with the target in your mind and not thinking about the ball or the stroke.

All three steps have an emphasis on thinking about the target.

Advanced would be to try to hold the thought of the target at set up, back swing, and finish.
