6. Pitch Shot
Are you confused about how to pitch to the green?
The pitch shot is a golf shot which is about half air and half ground (or roll). A chip shot, on the other hand, is defined as more ground (or roll) and little air.
The pitch shot is used between 10 to 40 yards from the hole.
If you want to have control of at least one golf shot inside this 10 to 40 yard range, then use what I call the Pitch Shot Formula:
- First, imagine your practice swing with a clock right behind you
- Imagining your head at 12:00 and your feet at 6:00, swing your pitching wedge back to 9:00 and through to 3:00
- Now do the same thing hitting a golf ball
- When you have hit a good shot, walk off the yardage
- You now have one yardage you can rely on inside of 10 to 40 yards
- For more advanced yardages, repeat this procedure with another short iron and walk off the yardage
