5. Get out of the Dreaded Bunker

bunkers

Having trouble getting out of the greenside bunker (also known as the sand trap or "bogie man")?

Apply the following formula and you will learn how to get out of the bunkers more often.

Eggs & Bacon: The Bunker Formula

  1. Utilize the Hilly Lie Formula (Article #3) and Lob Shot Formula (Article #4) as necessary when going into the greenside bunker

  2. The Goal is to disperse a Bacon Strip of sand out of the bunker as high as you can and as far as you can with your lob or sand wedge.

  3. Picture the ball in the middle of a fried eggegg

  4. Set up to make contact inside the fried egg behind the ball

  5. Dig your feet in the amount of sand you want to disperse from under the ball. In this case, a bacon strip.

If you dig your feet in the depth of a T-bone steak you will get too much sand from under the ball and the ball will not come out of the bunker...It is Bacon & Eggs, not Steak & Eggs!

  6. Finally, make a full swing with a constant, smooth, easy swing, finishing all the way through in balance and watching the sand push the ball out of the bunker!
